1. Our Commitment to Privacy

MoneyMart Australia (“MoneyMart”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the financial product comparison website at www.moneymart.au. We are committed to the open and transparent management of personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and disclose it, and your rights in relation to it. It applies to all users of www.moneymart.au. We will not use or disclose your personal information in a way that is inconsistent with this policy.

2. Anonymity

You may browse and use the MoneyMart website anonymously without creating an account. A MoneyMart account is only required if you wish to save and retrieve product comparisons. Where it is lawful and practicable to do so, we give you the option of not identifying yourself.

3. Information We Collect

We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary to provide our services. You will be informed of what information is being collected and why at the point of collection.

Via email and password registration

If you create an account directly using an email address and password, we collect only your email address. Your password is hashed and never stored in plain text.

Via social login

If you choose to sign in using a social login provider (such as Google, Apple, or Microsoft), we may collect your name, email address, and in some cases your profile photo from that provider at the point of authentication. This information is provided directly by the social login provider and is also subject to that provider’s own privacy policy. We only request the minimum information required to create and identify your MoneyMart account.

Unsolicited information

If we receive personal information that we did not solicit and could not have collected through our normal registration process, we will destroy or de-identify that information as soon as practicable, provided it is lawful and reasonable to do so.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information only for the purposes for which it was collected:

  • To create and manage your MoneyMart account.
  • To allow you to save and retrieve financial product comparisons.
  • To send transactional emails, including account verification and password reset messages. These are the only emails we currently send.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third party for marketing purposes.

5. Direct Marketing

We do not currently use your personal information for direct marketing. If we choose to do so in the future — for example, to send a newsletter or relevant financial updates — we will only do so where permitted by the APPs and every such communication will include a clear, simple, and free option to opt out of receiving further marketing messages. We will action any opt-out request promptly.

6. Website Analytics

We use a third-party web analytics service to collect anonymous, aggregated data about how visitors use this website (for example, pages visited and session duration). This data cannot be linked to any individual user and does not include any personal information. It is used solely to improve website performance and user experience.

7. Overseas Disclosure

Some of the third-party service providers we rely on to operate this website store or process personal information on servers located overseas, including in countries such as the United States of America. We take reasonable steps to ensure that any overseas recipients handle your personal information in a manner consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles. By creating a MoneyMart account, you consent to this overseas disclosure.

8. Government Identifiers

We do not collect, use, or disclose government-related identifiers (such as Tax File Numbers, Medicare numbers, or driver’s licence numbers) as an identifier for any individual.

9. Data Quality and Security

We take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information we hold is accurate, up to date, and complete. If you believe any information we hold about you is inaccurate, please contact us using the details in Section 10.

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. All data is encrypted in transit over HTTPS. We do not store any social login provider passwords or financial credentials. Access to your account data is restricted to authenticated sessions only. When personal information is no longer required, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

10. Access and Correction of Your Information

You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, and to request correction of any information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant, or misleading. You also have the right to request deletion of your account and associated data.

To make an access, correction, or deletion request, please contact us via our Contact page. We will respond within a reasonable time and at no charge to you.

11. Complaints and How to Contact Us

For all privacy-related enquiries, corrections, or complaints, please contact us via our Contact page at www.moneymart.au/contact. We will acknowledge your complaint promptly and work to resolve it within a reasonable timeframe.

If we are unable to resolve your complaint to your satisfaction, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal obligations. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the website after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
